So recently I’ve been on a spending frenzy buying makeup products to add to my collection and if you are a loyal reader of my blog you should know I ball out on a budget (LOL). I choose to find “dupes” to higher end cosmetic companies and search for the quality product that won’t take all my funds. This post is to inform you on my recent makeup buys, the price and what other cosmetic lines they compare to. I really hope you try these products out, because all of them mentioned have been a FANTASTIC addition to my stash.
Shoutout to my friend/MUA Tati Simmonds (@tatipolooza on IG & @todeine on Twitter) for the recommendation to buy a lipstick from the Rimmel London Kate Moss line #101. The lipstick is the exact dupe to MAC’s Snob and is a beautifully light shade of pink for a perfect pout. I got this on sale at a Walgreens in Missouri for $2.89 with my Walgreens card… I suggest you readers just sign up for one, because Walgreens will put makeup on sale as well as other things that are only cheaper for customers with a card. Do this! It’s a easy and simple way to save money on cosmetic purchases.
THE STAR OF THIS POST IS *drumroll* MY BEN NYE BANANA POWDER!!!!!!!!!! This powder was highly talked about and suggested by what seemed to be every YouTube guru and I, indeed, fell into the hype (HA!). For those that aren’t sure what the powder does: it simply sets your highlighting makeup in place and gives you an alternative to traditional white transluscent powder that may cast a ghostly veil over your face. Also, this powder is absolutely great for women of color and brings out the golden undertones in our skin. I purchased my powder here: http://camerareadycosmetics.com/products/ben-nye-bella-luxury-powder.html for $22.90 🙂
Soooo, a while back I noticed I was missing a great brown and pink lip pencil to line my lips with and for a minute I comtemplated buying MAC’s Cork lip pencil and whatever pink one they had too… So happy I didn’t let my bank account tell me to do it (LOL). Instead I went to good ‘ole Walgreens and searched for Jordana (a brand I’ve always been happy with) and grabbed a brown and pink lip pencil. Simple & easy and only .99cents! The best part if ya ask me…. I love both purchases and at least for 3 weeks they have been the only pencils I use. Pictured below is Coco Loco and Baby Berry:
I think it’s safe to say that the WetNWild cosmetic line may be my favorite. I love everything I own of theirs and it’s exceptional quality at a fraction of those greedy-expensive comestic lines. Anyways, I’ve been wishing to purchase glitter for my eye makeup just to give a little flare when I opt for dramatic makeup, and then by fate the makeup fairy must’ve willed me into my local Walgreens to browse. I came across the Fergie Collection and she had blue, pink, purple, clear, silver, and gold glitter for freaking .99cents!!!! I saw, almost fainted, squealed with joy and bought every color!
My last product I’m going to suggest to you girls made ME one happy girl after using it. I believe Forever21 lashes are the most fabulous, glam and reasonable lashes! As you know, I like buying the least expensive for the best quality and have found that F21 lashes are the best kept secret… Like who would’ve known they sold them or that those $2.80 lashes were any good!? I’m so pleased with myself for even buying them, but I highly suggest you girls try ’em. The lashes are durable but still bend to the shape of the eye, I get at least 5 wears out of them and their $2.80 for a FAB PAIR OF LASHES!
